Devcon

Devcon

One of the great things about Botcon is the comic that they put out at each convention. For the last two years, these stories have concentrated on a rag-tag band of Transformers who, as homage to the elite Autobot commando squadron of the same name, call themselves the Wreckers. Among their ranks, although in no way officially, is the Autobot bounty hunter known as Devcon. He first appeared in the second season episode "The Gambler" but reluctantly took on a smaller form sometime before boarding the Wreckers' shuttle:

The baddest bounty hunter since Death's Head, yes?

Another nifty thing about the Botcon comic is that all of the characters they create are based on existing toys. Devcon, for instance, is a repaint of RID's Mirage GT (who himself is a repaint of a Beast Machines character). This allows any Botcon character to be a potential toy exclusive, I suppose.

This was a fairly easy repaint; most of the body parts only needed spray colors before assembling, so there was little or no detail work involved except around the face, chest, and feet.

Here are the colors that promoted Devcon from two dimensions to three:
  • Skull White (Games Workshop)
  • Ice Blue (Games Workshop)
  • Banner Red (America's Finest Spray by Rust-Oleum)
  • Gloss White (America's Finest Spray by Rust-Oleum)
  • Spa Blue (Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Spray)
