Firestar

Firestar

The female Autobots have arrived!

There's long been an underground clamor for Cybertronian representation of the fairer sex. Everyone's always mentioned characters like Arcee, and occasionally Elita-One; some were satisfied with Blackarachnia and left it at that. Others made fan characters, or arguments that established characters were actually female. Yet strangely, there was never much call for the females who appeared in "The Search for Alpha Trion" — one of whom was Firestar.

A major problem for me in developing Firestar was trying to strike a balance between a body that looked too human (I considered using G.I. Joes) and a body that looked too artificial (Action Masters are seldom mistaken for humans). What I found were figures from a line called "Star Force" which are humans, but in spacesuits.

The next problem was her head. I could have used an Action Master head that looked close, or even kept the Star Force head. But I took it one step further and got a little creative. I started with Axer's head and drilled out the center so only the helmet remained. Then I took a Padme Amidala figure, cut around the face, and inserted it into the helmet. Glue on the neck and head ornament, and she's done.

I used the following colors on Firestar:
  • Blood Red (Games Workshop)
  • Hobgoblin Orange (Games Workshop)
  • Ice Blue (Games Workshop)
  • Bad Moon Yellow (Games Workshop)
  • Space Wolves Grey (Games Workshop)
  • Banner Red (America's Finest Spray by Rust-Oleum)
  • Popsicle Orange (America's Finest Spray by Rust-Oleum)
